The Wonderful World of CBD: Fibromyalgia
By Enjoinai Jenkins
Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency is a theory being posited as a possible explanation for Fibromyalgia. Developed by neurologist and psychopharmacology researcher Dr. Ethan Russo, he suggests that in the same way that other diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s are attributed to neurotransmitter deficiencies, so a lack of sufficient endocannabinoids can also cause certain clinical disorders with ‘predictable clinical features.’
Essentially, countless fibers throughout the body are sensing pain and reporting these sensations through the nervous system and back to the brain at the same time, so the sufferer experiences an entire body pain. Receptors in the Endocannabinoid system (ECS) are found in the immune system, the central nervous system and bone structure. It has receptors that respond to certain substances, and CBD interacts with these receptors, and potentially provides relief to unpleasant symptoms by stimulating the ECS.
CBD helps balance the nervous and musculoskeletal system and promotes healthy immune response, energy, clarity, and relaxation. When it comes to Fibromyalgia, CBD oil has also been shown to be an extremely effective means to overcome pain and take back control of one’s body.
